The leadership was professional and constructive. I was never afraid to ask questions and always received helpful feedback that made doing my job easier and more educational. The company culture is friendly and there is a sense of family among the staff - after work activities and gatherings were planned monthly, staff lunches took place often as well. I got to take on several different jobs throughout the summer that allowed me to gain an array of experiences and I never got bored as my tasks were always changing.
What I wish was different
Over the course of the internship I took on several different tasks both in the operations and marketing departments that exposed me to several different aspects of both departments; however, I wish I had also been assigned a project that I could manage and work on throughout the summer, completing it towards the end of my internship. This would have given me the opportunity to lead a project that would not only help the company but allow me to build upon my leadership and project management skills.
Advice
Go in with an open mind and ready to learn. I was exposed to a few different softwares that I had never used or even heard of before. It took me some time to get familiar with them and to use them efficiently; however, by being patient, open and determined I now know how to use Sugar CRM and Odoo - two softwares that are popular among marketing and operations managers.
