For this internship, I worked with one of the Investigators. She was very kind and made me feel welcome at the office. I got to know about some cases with her and learn more about the process they go through. My favorite part was going along with her and observing her interviews.
What I wish was different
I wish I could have stayed there longer. Unfortunately, because I am a student still I had to go back to my university.
Advice
Be mindful of the cases the public defense office handles. This line of work is not for everyone since serious cases are being dealt with. The first days can often feel very intimidating, but you'll get more comfortable once you get to know people in the office.

What I liked
Great opportunity to gain firsthand experience about how the criminal justice system operates. Learned valuable skills such as writing and serving subpoenas, conducting background checks, and shadowing investigators to interview clients and witnesses.
