Continental AG

Financial Controller Intern

June 2021 • Sejong City, South Korea

What I liked

I was able to support the finance team by using SAP and Excel. The internship experience taught me how SAP is used in large global companies. The team allowed me to implement python automation to daily tasks.

What I wish was different

This plant is located in the outskirts of Sejong City. They provide shuttle rides but do not provide housing. Location can be better.

Advice

It's a German automotive company in South Korea. Working here would be an unique experience. But I wouldn't recommend to those who are not interested in working at a finance team or in the automotive industry in the future.

Technical Operations Intern

May - August 2019 • Seguin, TX

What I liked

Had the chance to work on own projects and be creative with plenty of opportunities to learn and improve on engineering skills. Interns were treated very well and everyone is very friendly.

What I wish was different

The first week of the internship was slow-paced as we went through the required training and met plant staff.

Advice

Highly recommend the internship and would happily do it over again. I gained tons of experience in engineering design, manufacturing, and robotics that I would have never learned by just going to class.

Mechanical Engineer Intern

May - August 2018 • Mount Vernon, IL

What I liked

I enjoyed the fast-paced factory setting. You learn that time is money and the down-time of a machine must be taken into consideration when maintenance is done or the implementation of a new process is being considered. I also enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere. The majority of professionals I worked with were very helpful and patient with my lack of knowledge of the tire plant and the tire building process.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have had more to do with the mechanical engineering field. The plant wants electrical engineers very badly, and the majority of tasks I completed (and my personal project) revolved around electrical engineers. That being said, I did enjoy my work and learned a great deal about electrical engineering.

Advice

Step out of your comfort zone and don't be afraid to ask others for help. Always focus on completing tasks the right way, not the quickest way.

IT Software Engineer

March 2018 • Carpinteria, CA

What I liked

What I wish was different

Advice

Internships are the best way to gain experience in a field you plan on working in one day. I had to go outside of my comfort zone to write code by myself and hold myself accountable for getting things done. It taught me that I am capable of much more than I realize and with time and effort, I can achieve the goals I am asked to meet.

Hardware Electrical Engineering Intern

March 2018 • Troy, MI

What I liked

How Continental makes sure interns learn and experience things that will be beneficial to them in the future. They get them involved in testing, important documentation, training in software that is important to know when we get into the field, and many more things. They also offer a mentorship program and intern research project that are both great.

What I wish was different

I wish that the mentor program would not have been cancelled this year due to not enough interest. It was extremely beneficial to me last year and I would have liked another year with a mentor to learn more about the company and exploring the different career paths that Conti can offer.

Advice

I would say to push yourself to learn as much as you can and try to get involved in as much as you can. Sign up for training in different subjects, ask questions, ask to be assigned challenging tasks, get a mentor, get involved in the intern research project, whatever you can get yourself involved in, try to do it all so you learn as much as possible and can take advantage to all the different potentials of growth and to prove yourself that are offered to you.
