I loved the guidance and training for becoming a volunteer, as I learned many valuable skills which I can apply to my psychology degree.
What I wish was different
I wish I could have had more time to further develop projects within the hospice organization. I started a life stories program to guide my visits with the hospice patients, but by the time I left for the school year, the program still felt unfinished.
Advice
Volunteering at a hospice has been one of the most life-changing and rewarding experiences I have had thus far. It is emotionally taxing at times, but altogether, I remember my time as a volunteer in a very positive light and will look to continue that work in the future.
