Constellation Brands, Inc.

Learning and Development Intern

May - July 2020 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

I loved the people. Everyone was so kind and generous with their time. I was able to network and connect with people outside of my team.

What I wish was different

The internship was remote due to Covid-19 and I wish I had had the opportunity to experience the typical office environment. Constellation Brands did an amazing job transitioning to remote though.

Winery Lab Technician

August - December 2019 • St. Helena, CA

What I liked

The experience at the lab was great. I interned at The Prisoner Wine Company and then helped out at Robert Mondavi for my last three weeks. I got to learn about the process of winemaking and tested for quality throughout the different cycles of the wine process. The lab supervisor was nice and me and the other interns got to take a bunch of wine home. We also got free tastings at wineries nearby.

What I wish was different

I would of liked it if the company helped the interns find a place to stay near Napa because I had to commute from Davis to St. Helena everyday.

Advice

I would say if you are interested in getting into wine industry and have any lab experience, this would be a great experience.

Winemaker Intern

July - December 2019 • Madera, CA

What I liked

The company's environment is very fast pace and yet family oriented, great culture. The winemakers were constantly teaching me new things to make my experience worth while. Was able to incorporate chemical engineering into the setting, with using the facilities processes. Learned how to operate in various departments.

What I wish was different

more engineering, hands-on

Advice

One of the best internships I've had.

Community Affairs Intern

May - August 2019 • Victor, NY

What I liked

I liked the environment, there were always company happy hours and even parades that we would participate in. Plus, I got to do things I normally wouldn't do and that weren't related to my major entirely and picking up these new things diversified my skill set. I was involved in a lot of event planning, community outreach, and creation of graphics for physical and non-physical settings. There were also opportunities to work with clients, and this was taken seriously. I also had to get used to corporate culture, which wasn't difficult but remaining professional is very important. The part I liked was the amount of people I interacted with, nearly all of them being amicable and helpful.

What I wish was different

I would have liked more opportunities related to my major, unfortunately there was no position related to my major after the fact.

Advice

Be on your toes and be prepared to be asked of things you might not know how to do, and learn them. It also doesn't hurt to smile and say hello to the people who work around you, you might make some connections.
