Conservice

Meters Accounting Intern

July - September 2022 • Rexburg, ID

What I liked

I really liked the team that I worked with. Everyone was super willing to help and listen to what I needed/wanted to learn. I also got a lot of exposure to WIP, accruals/deferrals, and closing tasks.

What I wish was different

I thought it was great, but because I work fast, it seemed like there was a lot of scrambling to keep me busy with different projects.

Advice

I would recommend this position. I would say that you just need to be willing to work, because then they notice you and let you handle more difficult/sensitive information.

Vacant Audit Manager

June 2016 • Logan, UT

What I liked

They are very flexible with my schedule during the school year. I am able to register for classes, determine when I will have time to work around those classes and I tell them what my schedule needs to be. This company wants to see people succeed and push the limits of their comfort level. There are also many different job positions to work in and a great environment to grow as a professional.

What I wish was different

This company has been growing so much over the last 3 years that it is now the largest utility management company in the country. The only problem with that, is the bigger companies grow, the more employees start to feel more like a number on a spreadsheet rather than a person that has individualism and is playing a big role in helping the company succeed.

Advice

Working at this company requires excellent communication, both within the company and with clients. It also requires a lot of individual work ethic, great attention to detail, and problem solving. Make sure you are competent with computers, and especially the 10-key pad.

Accountant

February 2018 • Rexburg, ID

What I liked

Conservice is a great place to work for. It has a welcoming environment, good benefits, and they prefer to promote from the inside. It isn't great pay as far as most of the country is concerned but if you need a job in Rexburg the pay is better than most.

What I wish was different

The application process took 3 weeks, from the time I applied to the time I got a call asking me to come in for an interview. And then more than a week longer before I could start.

Advice

If you intend to get a job here in Rexburg they fill up fast so apply as soon as you here about it.

Billing coordinator

February 2018 • Rexburg, ID

What I liked

Flexible work schedule, good environment, good pay for Rexburg

What I wish was different

They expect you to stay for at least 6 months, you must be willing to work at least 20 hour shifts, it takes a few weeks from the time you apply to when you actually get an interview.

Advice

Don't try to get the job, quite, and then come back. If you get it, just keep it. If you can help it you should work for Billing or Synergy, not the customer service department.

Quality Coach

October 2017 • Logan, UT

What I liked

It's a very positive work environment with lots of support for team members. Generous paid time off and paid community service make it fantastic to work at.

What I wish was different

Nothing I can think of.

Advice

Apply. They are always looking for new hires.

Billing Coordinator

November 2017 - September 2019 • Logan, UT

What I liked

Benefits. They treat employees really well.

What I wish was different

Different role. This particular job didn't play to my strengths so it was a constant battle to perform despite my constant effort. I improved a lot and they didn't want me to go by the end, but I want a job position that I enjoy.

Advice

Try really hard, but if it's not a good fit and you gave it a good go, it's ok to leave.

Meters Analyst

May 2018 • River Heights, UT

What I liked

Easy, kind of work at your own pace job. Lots of opportunity to grow in the company. Employees are treated very well and with very much respect.

What I wish was different

Literally nothing. This has been the best job I've ever had.

Advice

Make sure you pay attention during training because everything you learn is thrown at you all at once and you have to learn to ingest it very quickly.

Utility Processor

August 2016 • Logan, UT

What I liked

Conservice has a great work environment and coworkers. The CEO invests a lot of profit back into his people.

What I wish was different

Data entry is monotonous, but it's the only crew with hours that work well enough with school to work full time and take 12+ credits.

Advice

Business leaders specifically could learn an incredible amount from Dave Jenkins. Put your employees first and you will get the most they have to offer.

Harvest Specialist

October 2017 • Logan, UT

What I liked

I like how it is easy to learn and the company is flexible with scheduling. It has been a great opportunity to work for them while obtaining my degree.

What I wish was different

I wish that their training would be easier to accomplish. For most positions, a 1-2 week full-time training is required, but after the training period is over you can work part-time or full-time in the hired position.

Advice

Don't give up. To obtain a position at this company requires an Excel test that must be passed before consideration for an interview, but it is possible!

IT Intern

January 2016 • Logan, UT

What I liked

Team work and problem solving software limitations

What I wish was different

More personal/professional leadership

Advice

If you aren't given a metric to measure your success against, then ask for one. Even if one isn't given naturally, your leadership will still assume you aren't working hard without proof.

Quality Control

October 2017 - August 2019 • Logan, UT

What I liked

The culture of Conservice is very unique. I met wonderful people who are still my best friends outside of work. There were opportunities to advance in the company and I liked that they hired from within. It was a great experience overall.

What I wish was different

Some of the leadership on my team was problematic. My team lead tended to pick favorites and it was hard to see her treat others differently. Especially when it was my friends receiving that treatment. Though, It was small instances it was one area I feel like could have been improved.

Advice

Take advantage of the opportunities Conservice offers you. There's so much that they offer employees in terms of benefits like discounts, rides to and from USU campus and the various Conservice buildings, growth from within, etc. It's a great company and I highly recommend it.

Conservice

July - August 2019 • Logan, UT

What I liked

The atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming. Everyone works in little teams which is nice when you’re starting out and don’t know a lot of information.

What I wish was different

I wish I would’ve found the job sooner. Honestly it was good, the hours worked for me, people around me were great, and if you don’t like the area you’re placed in, you can request to switch to a different department if you think you’d do better at it. The way it is set up is beneficial for everyone.

Advice

Get on jobs as soon as you can because they go fast once summer hits. In conservice specifically, I had to problem solve and try doing it on my own multiple ways before turning to a provider so we didn’t bother them if we didn’t have to but it actually helps you problem solve better in other things outside of work so I enjoyed it.

Utility Processer

October 2018 • Logan, UT

What I liked

I love being able to pick my schedule! If I have a test in the middle of my shift, I can switch shifts or work before of after!

What I wish was different

I do wish that they were to hire more employees just because we are a little behind on processing bills right now.

Advice

If I were to recommend this job, it would be to someone who is okay talking on the phone about once a day for 15 minutes, is able to sit down for longer periods of time and can focus when needed.

Account Manager (Financial Services)

August 2017 - June 2019 • Logan, UT

What I liked

Loved the environment, the people, the job. Everything.

What I wish was different

I wish I had done an internship in my career field rather than just working to pay for school. An internship maybe.

Advice

Getting involved with your major is important. Join the clubs, interact with your professors, and network from day 1. Having experience in the field is more important than the education sometimes.

Synergy Utility Processer

July 2017 • Logan, UT

What I liked

The work environment is fantastic. I love the social team structure of each department and how employees are so well supported on several levels in the company. The training programs for the departments are thorough and low-stress, and it is so nice to have a step-by-step system in place to ensure that you are successful at your job.

What I wish was different

I wish that my department had the staff to stay on top of its workload, and that the company software and systems were more consistent.

Advice

The harder you work, the more you make!
