Product Management Intern

June 2019 • Merrimack, NH

What I liked

The opportunity to contribute to every department and be allowed to take on real-world tasks was an amazing experience. They put a lot of trust in you and allow you to contribute in many ways.

What I wish was different

I wish that I was given more tasks to accomplish; instead, I found a lot of them on my own.

Advice

It is what you make it! Be fearless in approaching people and asking for tasks. The resources are there, you just need to know how to use them!

Sales intern

May - August 2018 • Merrimack, NH

What I liked

During my internship, I had the opportunity to go into the field with outside sales representatives from Connection and attend multiple business development meetings. These meetings were the highlight of my time at Connection and they peaked my interest in the sales world, namely, outside sales. I also had the opportunity to observe several different Account Managers while they were on their ‘power hour’ sales calls. On the day that my manager, Julie English-Sudderth offered me the position, she told me her plan was to give us a comprehensive sales internship and exposure to all the opportunities that are available in the sales world. I can assure you she was successful.

What I wish was different

I would’ve liked to have spent more time on the phone with customers. I participated in one activation campaign where we reached out to customers about a webinar that Connection was hosting, but I would have liked to have spent more time with actual customer interface.

Advice

Learn the systems quickly! The systems are slightly antiquated so they were pretty difficult for me to get a grasp of, but once I mastered them it made my job much easier as I did a lot of work for Account Managers on Connection’s systems.
