What I liked

I got this internship through the W.I.S.E. Program and I gained professional experience by being supervised by the Family Services Department Director, a Social Worker, Case Managers, and a Housing Specialist. I liked the time frame, which was from June 10th-August 2nd. I gained amazing bonds with both my coworkers and the Career Services Department team. In addition, I liked how I was offered to continue working at the shelter throughout the semester. Lastly, I liked how we had weekly workshops geared towards professional development and learning how to engage in self-love and care.

What I wish was different

I would have liked the program to be longer. However, the timeframe is great for someone who has other plans for the program or a second job. I also wish that if you did not want to dorm over the Summer, that they would have provided a MetroCard. However, it was amazing that the program offered to pay for you to dorm at the school because we have to be at the school on Wednesday’s for workshops.

Advice

This opportunity is amazing for someone who is trying to figure out what they want to do post grad, because it is a paid internship based on the career that you would like to pursue.
