What I liked

I liked that I had a lot of freedom within the role. I was able to develop and implement my own curriculum as I pleased to suit each demographic that I was working with. Getting to interact with students, staff, and parents all day by teaching yoga and mindfulness techniques was a lot of fun.

What I wish was different

I wish that I had more support when it came to classroom management. I was often the only teacher in the room with the children with no support staff, or if there was a support staff, they frequently did not do much. It made it difficult to teach when a child was continually disruptive and I would keep having to stop the class to redirect.

Advice

Working for Completely KIDS is an amazing experience where one will learn a lot about education, human services, at-risk youth, and how non-profits work. It grew my patience and empathy greatly, and if someone is looking to work with at-risk populations or within education, I believe this is a great experience for students.
