I love how we assist patients to die with dignity while providing them with care. I also love that not only do we care for the patient we provide bereavement for their loved ones to help them with the grieving process.
What I wish was different
Nothing. It has been a great experience and has made me appreciate what Hospice can do for a patient and their family. The staff has been phenomenal and their priority is always the patient. I would intern there again.
Advice
If you do not do well with the dying and grief process talk with your intern supervisor , your practicum instructor and make sure you do self care. It can be from going to counseling for free at your university, download the Breath to Relax app, read, take a bath or get a pedicure or even journal. Do what ever it is that allows you to process these feelings.

What I liked
I love that a Compassus gives a real experience for those of us who are studying nursing and even for those who have lost a loved one and want to simply give back. For me, I’m am driven by both.
What I wish was different
Nothing. Everything about the hospice care here is amazing.
Advice
No, death is not a fortunate thing but knowing that you can be there for someone in there final moments is a true blessing!
