English Camp Mentor
July - August 2018 • Tokyo, Tokyo Prefecture
What I liked
The experience allowed me to feel culturally immersed in a completely new environment while honing my mentorship skills. I additionally practiced my ability to fluctuate my methodology of describing high level concepts depending on the English level of my audience. In the final week I was able to go through a consulting process of refining the program.
What I wish was different
Parts of the program appeared unprofessional in their execution. Additionally, the communication skills between interns and the different program heads was lacking in most instances.
Advice
Be prepared for long, tiring days that are filled with enjoyment and a unique experience. Be prepared to teach and share ideas not only about high level concepts, but also building up the ideas of a strong personal identity and life mission.

English Teacher
July - August 2017 • Tokyo, Tokyo Prefecture
What I liked
I loved how much responsibility was given to the interns, and how we were really able to make our teaching experience our own. I also enjoyed the ample staff support.
What I wish was different
I wish there had been a way to vary the curriculum a bit more during the program, since it can get repetitive on the teacher's end.
Advice
This program is intensive for the students, and can be for you as well if you're not motivated. When you're engaged in the classroom, this program is amazing and your students will really develop.
