Got to explore a variety of different aspects of being a forensic analyst including the work done in various labs (dna, serology, latent prints, toxicology, firearms, crime scene), got to see the court process/attend trial, worked on a data collection project to influence laws in the state to better serve victims of abuse
What I wish was different
Although I had a lot of positive experiences, the internship wasn't very structured. Many times it felt like my time there wasn't utilized to the fullest.
Advice
Great exploratory experience if you are contemplating a job in a forensic lab. Would recommend having a solid idea of what you would like to learn from the experience and have a plan on how you are going to achieve it.

What I liked
At this internship I enjoyed learning what it takes to become a forensic scientist and the different investigative skills required to be a good scientist. I really enjoyed the court atmosphere and watching and studying as expert witnesses took the stand. Also getting some of the behind the scenes action.
What I wish was different
This was a great experience and would not have wished fore anything different.
Advice
Put your self in a position where you can put as many hours in a a day. Being unpaid you have to prepare for it to be a good experience.
