Development Intern

May - July 2018 • Los Angeles, CA

What I liked

I loved reading scripts, and having the opportunity to contribute my perspective to the creative vision of the company.

What I wish was different

I wish that it was compensated, as it would have made living in LA much easier. Additionally, I wish there had been more variety in the activities and tasks we were assigned. Interns were not let in on pitch meetings and other collaborations among our superiors, which I understand but I would hope to find another internship that gave interns more of a participatory role.

Advice

You won't know what Hollywood is like until you're in it. The film industry has many different sides to it, and also many different channels and paths through which successful people get to where they are. I heard so many stories from my bosses about the opportunities they had that brought them to where they are, and each one was completely unique. My advice would be to keep an open mind about experiences around the industry, as you never know what may lead you to something great.
