Coloplast

Packaging Engineering Intern

June 2023 • Minneapolis, MN

What I liked

As a packaging engineering intern, I was given the opportunity to use my design skillsets to create new packaging for new product development. Furthermore, my peers trusted my abilities to complete inspections, device builds, write protocols and reports with support from my team. Another thing I enjoyed about Coloplast was their company culture. Everyone that works at Coloplast comes to work everyday with a smile on their face. Secondly, management looks for ways to have fun while working hard to get projects completed. I really enjoyed everyday I came into the office over the summer. I also really enjoyed getting to work with the other interns over the summer and getting to know them through intern events such as company picnics, company outings such as base ball games and many more.

What I wish was different

Although I loved my summer internship experience, I wish I got to work more hands on with sustainability projects. Since the summer was filled with NPD projects, sustainability was something that got pushed off due to it being fairly new to the company. Now, it is something I get to work on through part time at Coloplast.

Advice

One piece of advice that I would share would be to come in with an open mindset and be willing to try everything and anything. Going into the summer, I did not have experience with designing packaging for medical devices but I was able to create various designs by the end of the summer with the help of my peers. Everyone is looking for you to succeed.
