Over the summer we helped conduct orientation for incoming freshman and transfer students. I really liked being able to work directly with the students and help them learn more at the University. During the school year we have drop-in hours for all students which I love because of how I am able to directly help students and talk to them about problems they are dealing with. We also get to work on individual projects and carry out ideas that we have to improve the advising office.
What I wish was different
I do wish that the projects were more structured because since we could do a project on whatever we wanted, it was hard to come up with ideas for what to do.
Advice
It is important to connect with the students so that they feel more comfortable about asking questions and asking for help when needed.
