College of Charleston: Center for Civic Engagement

About College of Charleston: Center for Civic Engagement

The Center for Civic Engagement offers students strong direct service opportunities with local nonprofit organizations that range from one-day events to ongoing opportunities to long-term programs. Our office also organizes the Alternative Break service immersion experiences and the Bonner Leader program. In addition to the variety of projects initiated each year based on current events, there are several annual events hosted by the Center for Civic Engagement.

Mission: The Center for Civic Engagement’s mission is to contribute to the holistic development of College of Charleston students and to cultivate in them a passion for positive social change through the use of education, service, and critical reflection.

Vision: Our vision is a community of informed citizens committed to a just and equitable world.

“I love being able to coordinate meetings and events for the Bonner Leaders while embracing our shared love for civic engagement and activism in everything we do. Our discussions feed each of our passions and we are constantly teaching and learning from each other while maintaining strong, lasting bonds. We have the opportunity to stay connected with not only the Charleston community but we expand our reach to all communities both domestic and international. ”
