I liked the routine--the hours were the same every day and I knew what to expect. As I was in charge of planning meals and activies, I was able to instill both organization and spontaneity in the day.
What I wish was different
I wish there had been more contact with the employers. Because I was in a summer position and not a full time role, I never had reviews, so I never quite knew if I was doing a good job or what I could improve on.
Advice
Definitely come open minded--each family is going to be different, and that might change how you feel about the experience. I loved the family I worked with, but it is a very close relationship with the family and I could see how the experience could easily become stressful if the dynamic between the family and sitter doesn't sit right. I will say, though, that the employers always seemed willing to help you in cases like that.

What I liked
I enjoy working with the kids and meeting new families.
What I wish was different
Poor scheduling, unorganized and rude office staff, poor management, and the office ignoring sitters led to an abundance of issues. I drove an excess of miles because of disorganized booking, and there were multiple times that a job that I had accepted in advance was given to someone else last minute because of "customer preferences." The office was not a good support system, so although the company is a fantastic concept, it didn't work.
Advice
Make sure you have lots of availability open - also you may not get anything for days, and then end up driving 75+ miles in one day between different jobs. Not worth the pay, time, or energy.
