I loved how the team treated us like actual reporters and not just as interns. We were given responsibilities such as attending press briefings and hearings on Capitol Hill and writing about what was said in the meetings. We also interviewed Senators and other members of government.
What I wish was different
I wish there hadn't been so many COVID restrictions so we could see what Capitol Hill is like in a normal year!
Advice
Don't be afraid to put yourself out there. It was scary walking up to senators in the hallway of the Capitol building, but I learned so much doing it and grew so much during this experience. You can do it!
