Cuomo Prime Time Intern

June - August 2021 • New York City, NY

What I liked

This internship is a great way to see the inner workings of a prime-time nightly news show. It is very guest-driven, unlike any typical newscast. Story ideas are based on guests that can bring unique perspectives to the issues of the day. You'll learn basic production skills (cutting video, graphics) as well as the booking process. Great experience working in a face-paced news environment.

What I wish was different

Advice

Very fast-paced and high-pressure environment. Don't expect to be catered to, or that opportunities will find you. Seek out work and request face-to-face or video meetings with individual team members.

CNN Espanol Intern

September - December 2017 • New York City, NY

What I liked

This is the most dynamic internship I've had and when you go to work, you are actually working. From researching breaking news stories, interviewing public figures celebrities, and helping to shoot and edit pieces around NYC, every day is a new adventure. Great opportunity for those looking to increase their fluency in Spanish.

What I wish was different

I like the unstructured nature of the internship, however it takes some adjusting. You have to make sure you're ready for anything when you come in each day. If you want to do something or help someone, you have to initiate and ask for it.

Advice

Be open, be respectful, and come prepared with ideas.
