What I wish was different
Being with 15 pre-K age campers at a time per week for 8 hours a day, and only 3 counselors, a stressful amount of multitasking took place. Managing the behavior of the campers while trying to prepare experiments with fellow counselors was incredibly stressful. Having an experienced teacher working with me for the majority of my time at Club SciKidz was much more enjoyable than my last week without her.
I was not paid enough for what I was managing - the salary, even with my previous experience, was equivalent to $11/hr, which is $4 below the minimum wage of Howard County.
