I liked the connections with other canvassers I made, the passionate people I met at the doors, and knowing that I was making a difference for the environment and Michiganders

The hours and driving are pretty long but that’s part of the job.
Advice
Be ready to have doors slammed in your face and rude people - they don’t matter - it’s the people who get involved in any way that help us make change

This internship provides ample opportunities to learn about activism and different environmental issues within New Jersey through daily guest speakers (which double as great networking opportunities!)
What I wish was different
The internship involves canvassing everyday which is can be highly variable with respect to public engagement.
Advice
My advice would be to take advantage of all the networking opportunities.

If you like walking, this would be a good fit. I would say don't be nervous because everyone at CWA was in your shoes!
