I enjoyed learning different skills used in the laboratory from my mentor. Reading published research articles, and creating a poster to present for a research symposium.
What I wish was different
I wouldn’t wish anything had been different. This was a wonderful experience and I would participate next summer if the opportunity arises.
Advice
Research internships in a laboratory consist of a lot of standing and walking reading and writing, and a drive to learn.

CAU Summer 2019 Research Internship
June - July 2019 • Atlanta, GA
What I liked
I loved the fact that my PI was very open to teaching me how to work around her lab and had the patience of teaching me the complexities of the different procedures and the meaning of the results.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had gotten a chance to present my poster to the judges at the end of the internship instead of it being judged by itself. I feel that I would have heled break down the process and results of my project better than it just being read off the board.
Advice
Come in to research with an open mind. I did not think it was going to be as interesting but the internship exposed my new found love for research in pancreatic cancer.
