GIS Intern

February 2020 - July 2020 Vero Beach, FL
“I came into the internship with little to no experience with GIS. I had only taken one class and I did not feel comfortable with GIS but I was very interested in it. Jim was able to teach me so much in a such a short period of time. He really has the natural ability of teaching and he is so patient. I truly enjoyed my experience and working with the other half of the GIS team, Ms. Stephens. During the slight lockdowns, Jim was able to have me continue working and I truly appreciate that. he is a genuinely good person and he enjoys teaching people all about GIS. I would 100% recommend. I can not stress enough how helpful the whole experience was. ”

“I loved the office environment - everyone is kind and easy to work with. I felt like I wasn't just there to help out the City, but to really learn GIS. The manager is great at teaching you not only the skills you need for the job, but anything he comes across that might help you out in the future too. But be warned- he loves to joke around! :) I also liked that I could see a direct and sometimes immediate benefit to what I was working. For example, one of the bigger projects I worked on was Lights. I cataloged almost the entire city's street lights. These numbers and locations have already been used in contracts and future planning meetings.”
