City of Idaho Falls

Construction Inspector Intern

May - September 2019 • Idaho Falls, ID

What I liked

Going to construction sights and reporting the work done for the day, checking in on projects, and learning how they work. I also learned more about plotting points in GIS which was very interesting and informative.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have known who my boss was right off the bat.

Advice

To soak in the information, and enjoy the experience.

Public Information Intern

February - September 2019 • Idaho Falls, ID

What I liked

I liked the ability to make my own schedule and get experience in a Professional environment. I loved working with numerous City Officials, being able to use my creative abilities, and bring new found value.

What I wish was different

I wouldn't change a thing!

Advice

I was offered this job after applying and networking with a totally different company. I wasn't the first choice for the job, but I impressed them enough to refer me to a friend of theirs at the City and was offered an amazing opportunity to help Pioneer an Internship Program for the Mayor's Office. The point is to keep going and putting yourself out there!

Engineering inspection intern

June - September 2018 • Idaho Falls, ID

What I liked

Gave me projects and let me make them my own. Made the call on what a contractor should or shouldn’t do and was given a lot of freedom. If there was something I was never quite sure of, the other inspectors were glad to help me out and walk me through the best way to solve a situation.
