I really enjoy how open and warm the environment is. Working as a Recreational Assistant puts you on the front lines every day. You come into contact with so many different people who live in your community and really learn how to connect to the human population not only as a member of the staff, but on a personal level as well. I get to witness the growth and change of my community every day.
What I wish was different
There isn't anything that I would change, even as a current employee, the workplace environment runs pretty smoothly and the staff are reliable, flexible and over all just amazing.
Advice
Stay on your toes! The environmental pace in a recreation center changes quickly so you always have to be ready to go. Whether its a normal business day or there are special events and programs, you should always be prepared to handle and resolve anything thrown your way. Most of all, don't be afraid to ask questions, this goes for any workplace!
