What I liked

I liked learning about the physicality of restoration work, the different organizations needed to implement the work and know that the work I helped out with will benefit the area for years on end.

What I wish was different

I with we would’ve done more work.

Advice

It’s hard work but gets your foot in the door with organizations and leaders of the organization. I highly recommend jumping on an opportunity to help with field work whenever possible!

What I liked

The culture at the City of Boise was amazing and helped me learn skills within HR I did not have before that experience.

Ask for feedback on your work. Know that you won't know everything. Take what they tell you and work to improve areas you are lacking in while not taking offense to constructive criticism.

Playcamp Leader

May - August 2019 • Boise, ID

What I liked

The atmosphere was fun, and I got to be outside! We went on field trips one day a week, went to the pool for two days, and had an art day on another day. The kids were very kind and the staff was amazing. Hours are set, but you work with your coworkers to determine what shift you will take, which allowed me to make it to my later classes at BSU.

Advice

This job is not just for people wanting to teach, but you do have to have a love for kids in order to love the job!

Pool Lifeguard

What I liked

Working outside

What I wish was different

I wish my salary had been higher, I have also worked at that pool for 4 summers, so the tasks are monotonous at this point.

Advice

It's a good job if you can't find anything else, but doesn't provide a ton of office skills/experience to put on your resume.
