City Experiences

Event Coordinator and Sales Intern

May 2021 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

I love the team environment at City Experiences. Everyone truly works together to make our events and operations run smoothly both in office and on-site, and using our RESEPCT acronym, the team truly supports one another. I have been given many opportunities to grow both personally and professionally, and have always felt valued as an employee.

What I wish was different

Nothing - I loved this experience, that is why I have opted to extend what was originally a summer internship into the fall semester or school and this upcoming spring, becuase I have truly enjoyed my time here and love this job and my team.

Advice

Be prepared to work hard! Go above and beyond in your position and it will earn you the respect of your teammates and push you to grow in this role and get the most out of it. Putting on events can be a lot of work, and it is important to recognize the key role that every department plays in producing events and making them successful. Be prepared to stay organized and communicate often and clearly with other departments to ensure that you are pulling your weight and not making the jobs of other departments more difficult.

FOH Management

What I liked

Everything about the company was magnificent. Everyone from the bussers at the boats to the managers at corporate were always very kind and helpful. I loved how I got to experience more than one single role in the company. It was a rotational internship, therefore, it gave me the opportunity to level up and taste different aspects of a very huge brand that is going international.

What I wish was different

I wish that the company would offer even more corporate opportunities to wider variety of interns. This is due to the fact that I know how much it means and the value that it would give an intern to taste a little bit of everything is very crucial to building their career foundation.

Advice

As simple as it sounds, throw yourself out there. Taste EVERYTHING! That way you can really squeeze the most out of not only this internship but in other parts of life as well. Take advantage of your resources and never say no to opportunities.
