This is a small, client-driven law firm that specializes in family law, criminal law and immigration law. Since we are a small law firm, I was able to build relationships with my coworkers, which I feel made this internship opportunity unique. Further, when I first started my internship, I was super overwhelmed and stressed out because this was my first experience in the legal world, but I was able to look at various templates of previous legal documents for reference and the staff I worked with was also extremely kind and helpful anytime I had questions. This internship provided me with a great behind the scenes look at the legal world, and allowed me to realize my passion for immigration law.
What I wish was different
I wish I could have interned at this firm during the school year, as client intake slows down during the summer.
Advice
I think this internship is best suited for someone who is looking to familiarize themselves with the legal profession, and someone who is organized, thrives in a fast-paced, autonomous work environment and is not afraid of asking questions when they need help.
