Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters

Medical Research Assistant

August 2021 • Norfolk, VA

What I liked

I love that this internship can be done remotely allowing me to work with several doctors in different locations, and interview research participants all over the country.

What I wish was different

I have enjoyed the flexibility of doing this remotely, and it is the way I excel at doing a job, but I would like to meet everyone in person once or twice. Otherwise, this internship has been the perfect fit for me.

Advice

If you see a job that interests you, apply! I have some very non-traditional work and volunteer experiences, but it made me the perfect fit for the job.

Research Assistant

June - August 2018 • Norfolk, VA

What I liked

Interacting with patients, nurses, and doctors at CHKD

What I wish was different

I wish I could have had more time to work on the project beyond the summer

Advice

Always be thankful for being given the opportunity to research, and asking people to fill out a survey is a huge favor every parent and patient did for me, so I was always so thankful.

Advice

Go into your internship with confidence because you were chosen to be there, but also with humility because you are ultimately there to learn. Take every opportunity to learn something new and do not be afraid to ask questions and reach out for help or assistance.
