The Children’s Discovery Museum is a high-energy, interactive, educational facility located at 171
Western Ave in Augusta, Maine. The museum is in the process of relocating to Waterville, slated to
open to the public in 2020. During this transition, the museum has built movable museum exhibit
pieces as part of their traveling Museum Without Walls program. This program revolves around
science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) concepts and travels around to schools, libraries,
community spaces, and events throughout Central Maine.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Children’s Discovery Museum is to provide an array of exhibits and activities that promote developmental skills including social, cognitive, problem solving and peer interaction. Our environment creates an interactive community in which hands on learning is provided through play.
