Assistant management

April 2016 • Gainesville, VA

What I liked

Great atmosphere, coworkers are like family, and you feel like you’re brightening peoples day.

What I wish was different

I’d love more money, 10 an hour isn’t enough to cover tuition, rent, and utilities, so I have loans out.

Advice

Great job if you need a really flexible schedule or are only free super early or late at night. And you usually have 1 day off a week in addition to the obvious Sundays off. There are occasionally meetings on Sunday but at least at our location, they’re a once every few months/a year sort of thing.

Store Manager

June 2018 • Smyrna, GA

What I liked

I had multiple opportunities to grow and learn from my supervisors and operators. I got the privilege to sharpen my leadership skills through one-on-one and group training with my peers. It was so exciting to work alongside my operator and assistant operator in working to achieve an increase customer satisfaction, as well as building a relationship with my team.

What I wish was different

I wish that I had applied for the position sooner. I loved the challenge of learning new skills and taking on new responsibilities instead of remaining stagnant and complacent in my work space.

Advice

I would give advice to the people who are hesitant to branch out or take on foreign responsibilities or tasks. I was very wary of applying for this position because I was afraid that I would make too many mistakes or that the responsibilities would become overwhelming. I was complacent and afraid of an uncomfortable change. My advice to you is to strive for something challenging and foreign to you. Whether the opportunity works out or not, you will always have a lesson to learn. It is imperative that we remove fear, telling ourselves we can handle any task or project.

Front of House Team Member

June - September 2019 • Stockton, CA

What I liked

I gained so much job experience and learned more about customer service. This location I worked at was more busy than the one I work at now and it made time go by faster because there was always something to do. I also had the best, hardworking coworkers who made work enjoyable and easier! Loved the environment!

What I wish was different

Nothing! The store was always busy so it was stressful, but as said before, it made time go by fast and I learned a lot from all my time spent there.

Advice

With working there all summer, there was bound to be some mistakes made, or things changing with customers. Although it does get complicated sometimes when trying to find solutions to a problem, or you get down on yourself for messing something up, the best and only thing you can do is learn from it. Because of that, you’ll know what to do next time something similar pops up!

Fast Food Worker

June - August 2019 • Davie, FL

What I liked

I loved the customers. Even when work was stressful, I would have some personal relationships with some customers that would make my day.

What I wish was different

The amount of stress that came with the job, as it gets very packed at times and everyone has to work at literal "lightning speed".

Advice

Share positive energy with others. Making someone feel special not only makes their day, but it'll make yours.
