Cherie Martin & Associates

Podcast Editing Intern

May - July 2021 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

I made quite a few connections with my fellow interns. That was just about it.

What I wish was different

Everything. This was truly an experience that taught me everything I DIDN'T want in a job

Advice

Stay away from internships like this. Don't be afraid to speak up if you think you are working in a hostile environment or feel you may be being exploited.

Postproduction Supervisor

October 2020 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

I was blessed to get a shot and become a leader in one of the company’s departments. I learned a lot about management, taking responsibility for group results, bringing teams closer, running multiple projects seamlessly, and building my own creative business. After finishing my internship, I feel more prepared to continue my career journey bringing better knowledge of so many things, from taxation and competitive marketing to strategic vision.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more hours in a day to be even more engaged with the team outside of work and commit more time to teach and inspire young professionals.

Advice

It's a place where you learn fast, and the leadership is willing to help you with clarifying your career goals and building a strategy to achieve them.

Digital Marketing Media Artist

January 2021 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

Cherie Martin & Associates is a company that pulls the best out of their interns . One thing I truly liked about this internship was that I actually learned. I've had internships in the past that basically wanted me to replace a worker for free with a internship title. With this internship I truly learned from the tasks I was provided, and at the same time made improvements to my own skills, including time management, graphics, and more attention to detail.

What I wish was different

I wish the opportunity had been in-person instead of virtual.

Advice

One piece of advice that I would share about my experience is don't give up. The longer you stay the more you learn and the advice and connections you gain are worth it.
