Barn Crew

What I liked

Lovely location and nice people. Got to learn about horses and ride them in my free time.

What I wish was different

The food and pay could be better

Advice

Work hard play hard. Make the most of living near a national park and tourist town. But know the safety protocols and don't do anything too risky.

lead nanny

May 2018 • Estes Park, CO

What I liked

I liked that I was in Colorado doing something that I love, located literally IN the mountains!! I met friends from all over the world that I know I’ll be friends with forever.

What I wish was different

I’m not even sure, I’m so in love with this job and have recruited several others!

Advice

It’s a camp job. Camp people and camp experiences are very “go with the flow” and “open minded” we have a completely different work ethic, It typically goes above and beyond. You have to be willing to do your job, and other jobs that may not have originally been in your title. They know how to take care of you

Hiking Counselor

June - August 2018 • Estes Park, CO

What I liked

I absolute loved the everyday interactions with campers. As I study to become a high school English teacher, it is important for me to be to establish positive, supportive relationships with teens.

What I wish was different

The only down side to my experience was the physical toll taken on my body. Hiking up to 25 miles a day on little sleep caused me to feel drained and irritable some days.

Advice

Put yourself first, even if it means letting someone else down. Sacrifices can be made, but not at the expense of losing the best of your mind or body.

Sports Counselor

June - August 2018 • Estes Park, CO

What I liked

I loved the mountains and working with middle school girls! I made friends, learned so much, and felt very challenged in this new environment.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have been a hiking counselor rather than a sports counselor. I also wish I would have gone with a close friend from home.

Advice

Develop strong emotional regulation techniques.
