Content Marketing Intern

May - August 2018 • Santa Clara, CA

What I liked

I loved the crazy amount of opportunities given for students to learn. We could jump in on any meeting we wanted to, learn from the highest level executives at the company, and ask to be apart of any projects that we will would be relevant to our learning experience. The intern program at Chegg is very established, with intern events and social gatherings planned throughout the summer. They also took time to teach us advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and other tools.

What I wish was different

I think it would have been cool to have more projects that were 100% my own, but other than that it really was the perfect experience.

Advice

Make sure you really research the company and it's values! Chegg recruiters really appreciate that.

Tutor

June 2016 • Dayton, OH

What I liked

It's very flexible and rewarding work---you can choose how much you want to work, which subjects you're most interested in teaching, and so on. It's helped me a lot with my teaching skills and in the process of teaching students about history, literature, psychology, etc., I've improved my knowledge of these areas as well.

What I wish was different

Since it's online and you're competing with a lot of other tutors around the U.S., sometimes it's difficult to find as many students as you'd like to tutor. This makes it difficult to rely on it for a stable wage, but it's still a good source of supplementary income.

Advice

I would recommend trying to cultivate a good relationship with a small set of students, rather than trying to respond to every request that comes up (which can sometimes be fairly time-consuming). Most of the income that I've earned through Chegg has come through regular students of mine who request repeat or weekly lessons after being satisfied with an initial lesson.
