I loved working outside, right on the Hudson River. I really enjoyed identifying the plants in the tidal marsh and creating a field guide book for CURB to use for future education opportunities and visitors. I also really loved being a mentor and a teacher to local Yonkers teenagers as a part of the first Blue Team project. This project involved taking water quality samples three times a day and testing them in the lab for Enterococcus levels.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had thought more about what research I specifically wanted to do this summer, instead of doing many different projects. But I loved all the different projects I got to be a part of, so I guess I really wouldn't change it.
Advice
There are so many amazing opportunities at CURB, really take advantage of the resources, location, and experience that this research fellowship can offer.
