My girlfriend was going to work with me but couldn't due to an online class. I would change that she was working with me all summer.

What I liked

Building networks with people in the social work industry, and those who are in government offices as well. Interacting with clients, and assisting clients learns how services comes to be and ways to maintain healthy and successful life.

What I wish was different

I wished I had met more people to network with. For sure at the social work field every day is meeting new faces if I could have build a strong relationship with everyone I meet I am sure my future after graduation would be more secure. My biggest regret was that I didn't took the networking opportunities seriously and miss out on many opportunity to connect with individual from various sectors of social working.

Advice

Social work industry takes commitment and mental energy, it is easier said than done. Always check your internal competency before jumping into social service position.

What I liked

I enjoyed the experience of an office environment and the social interaction it involved, as I met many different people with vastly different outlooks/lives. I loved my boss and direct supervisor, and hope to be like them one day.

Get everything in writing!!! Also remember that not everyone's priorities have to be your priority; take care of yourself first and ask for help anytime you feel overwhelmed.

I liked how close I became with the children at the camp, and how they were able to bring me out of my comfort zone in regards to be shy and trying new things.

I wish that the environment was less toxic and that I had a good support system

Advice

I would say it's okay to get put of your comfort zone. Doing that will ensure that you can make an impact on the children while your there and that you can also create good memories while you are there.
