I greatly enjoyed the personal advice and mentoring I received from the staff. Multiple employees invested their time in me by meeting for lunches and scheduling valuable one on ones.
What I wish was different
I wish they had communicated who would be my supervisor. For the first couple weeks it was unclear who I should report to or where my work would be coming from. To overcome this, I visited various employees and asked if they needed help. In the long run it made me look interested and like a hard worker!
Advice
I would advise students to attend the career events. Don’t just talk to one person and feel like you as a student have done enough. Talk to numerous people for lengths at a time! Practice your elevator speech because that’s truly how I got hired for the summer.
