It's a great way to make a little money and get food and housing while you take summer classes or do a little research

Resident Assistant
June - August 2019 • Pittsburgh, PA
What I liked
It was a fun job working with the other pre-college staff. There was a lot of time to do things on our own and connect with students. It was very manageable and a great mentorship opportunity.
What I wish was different
Advice
Leave a good impression on the students—pre-college RAs are in a position where many pre-college students want to be, and a lot of them seek advice. While the job is and should be fun, it is likely not 100% what you expect it to be and everyone's experience is different!

Pre-College RA
June - August 2018 • Pittsburgh, PA
What I liked
I enjoyed bonding with other RAs, and also having leadership experience, as well as responsibilities to take care of other people.
What I wish was different
The second RA on my floor got sick at the beginning of the program, so I was left on my own for the whole program. I wish he hadn't gotten sick, but that's nobodies fault.
Advice
There's a bit of down time, so taking a class really keeps you busy, even though the job still is time consuming.
