What I liked

Everyone there is really friendly and will help and give advise whenever you need it. CCM also does a great job with enhanced interaction between other interns from other departments. All the mentors are great and the projects are all fascinating as well.

Roof Coatings Intern

May - August 2021 • Carlisle, PA

What I liked

What I loved most about the Carlisle was the atmosphere. It was very enjoyable and everybody was willing and able to answer my questions. Everyone in the R&IC wants you to succeed with your project and with help you get the resources or people necessary for your project. I started out knowing almost nothing about Silicone and its chemistry.

What I wish was different

The first couple weeks were very slow. It took time to learn the equipment and safety required to use the lab without help.

Advice

Even if you aren't so sure construction materials is what you want. Jump in with open arms. There was so much learning and valuable experience that I will always be thankful for just applying here.

What I liked

The R&D department had a very nice culture and I got the opportunity to do a summer project mostly on my own which felt empowering

What I wish was different

More time with my mentor

Purchasing Specifications Intern

May - August 2017 • Carlisle, PA

What I liked

Through the purchasing agent that I interned under, I was given the opportunity to see the benefits and negatives of being in both a purchasing role and in a sales role. I was able to network with numerous sales agents from other companies as I was included in weekly supplier meetings.

What I wish was different

I wish I had an increase involvement in the supplier meetings I was included in. I mostly sat and took notes, having little background information on the products being negotiated.

Advice

You can go pretty far in life by just having a good attitude and willingness to learn. This was not a job sector that I had a lot of enthusiasm going into, but I went in to the internship ready to learn and gave it my all. Outside of what I learned about purchasing and sales, I came away with better knowledge of what goes on in business meetings and how to act professionally, I learned how to seek out information that is not readily available, and I was able to make what I believe will be life long connections.
