Demand Planning Intern

May - August 2019 • Dearborn, MI

What I liked

I enjoyed the company culture and the ability to make an impact even as an intern! I felt that the projects I worked on were substantial.

What I wish was different

I wish we had more projects that involved building a forecast from the ground-up.

Advice

Always ask questions and continuously ask for any available opportunities to learn, even if it's from another department.

IT Intern

May - August 2019 • Dearborn, MI

What I liked

Given a lot of autonomy and I was allowed to work on things that mattered to my department. I was given a lot of training on the tools used in my department so I go a lot of experience working with actual industry tools and how they are implemented. I worked with different teams so I understood some of what went into providing service.

What I wish was different

Sometimes there wasn't a lot for me to do so I spent a lot of time researching in my cubicle. I also think that sometimes it was hard to get information I needed to do my job since everyone was too busy to help. Communication between departments also seemed to be a challenge since I would spend a week working on something only to find another team had the answer but no one on my team knew.

Advice

Ask questions, it's the fastest way to learn and it helps others think about solutions to the question. Don't be afraid to ask people questions and get to know people in other departments. Sometimes it can help to get their advice and insight, and it can also help you understand how the company works better/give you an insight into what you would like to do in the future.
