What I liked
I got work experience in my field in which I was able to take on a lot of responsibilities. I did not have constant supervision or someone constantly breathing down my neck. I was able to take on jobs and get them done, and my mentor trusted me to do that.
What I wish was different
I wish I had more variety when it came to the jobs I did. It eventually became very monotonous and I was easily bored by the work. Plus I spent a lot of time alone and I did not really like that.
Advice
Research and research presentations look really good on resumes and grad school applications, so take a chance on opportunities to do work like this.

I liked the freedom that an individual research project gave me, as it was a preview into life as an employed research scientist.
What I wish was different
I wish that the project had been a little more organized from the beginning.
Advice
Making deadlines and personal goals are very important in order to keep research on track.

I liked that I could design my own research project and learn valuable skills of my major and profession.

I honestly wished I had more time. A summer is enough time to do research but another week would have been great.

Try to do it. It’s a lot of fun.
