Camp Poyntelle

Camp Counselor Intern

June - August 2018 • Poyntelle, PA

What I liked

Being a camp counselor at Camp Poyntelle was an incredibly rewarding experiences. After attending camp for numerous years, this job allowed me the opportunity to inspire and aid in the growth of many young campers. Through this role I not only learned time management, responsibility, conflict resolution, but found a community of individuals who will work every day to make you the best version of yourself. My days were filled with summer activities and friendships that I would have never been given the chance to have at most other jobs and I wish that I could hold this role every summer of my life.

What I wish was different

Advice

While it may be intimidating to join a new community and disconnect from the "real world" for 7 weeks, working at Camp Poyntelle will allow you to grow in ways that you would have never thought possible. This community will welcome you within a few hours of being there and I promise that you will never want to leave. With everything going on in this world today, having a day in the sunshine with limited technology and a lack of concern for anything but the present is a gift.

Arts and Crafts Specialist

June - August 2018 • Poyntelle, PA

What I liked

I liked that I got to work with kids and experienced running my own classroom.

What I wish was different

I wish we had more breaks and better pay for the amount of labor that was involved with the job.

Advice

I would suggest only doing a job like this if you love the outdoors and don't mind working 15 hrs+ per day. The payoff is not the money but the impact you have on the kids.
