Camp La Junta

About Camp La Junta

Camp La Junta is a private, traditional, recreational, overnight camp for boys situated on 200 acres of scenic Texas Hill Country, alongside a mile of the crystal clear, spring fed Guadalupe River. The summer program was developed to allow boys to participate in a variety of exciting activities which broaden their experiences and cultivate a strong sense of success and self-confidence. Enrollment is limited to 250 boys per session, aged 7-14, and there are 60 La Junta counselors. Of these 60 counselors, La Junta hires up to 8 females to work with our youngest campers. In addition to counselor staff, we hire nannies, nurses, office staff, maintenance, and kitchen personnel.

Our goal in the summer is to provide a dynamic work experience which rivals the excitement and life experience of the camper program. The professionalism of our training and management styles mirror the best run companies in modern business. A Camp La Junta counselor experience is not only fun, relaxing, fulfilling and rewarding, but provides countless hours of personal, professional, management and leadership experience which will continue to benefit you for years to follow.

Camp La Junta’s Counselor Staff are hired to be both Cabin Counselors and Activity Instructors. Over the course of the summer you will function as a coach, role model, parent, teacher, big brother/sister, super hero and best friend. If you are interested in working with young people this summer, have an activity background which you feel comfortable teaching and enjoy the outdoors, then a summer at La Junta is the perfect summer job for you.
