This was my second time working for the California Science Center, and I really loved all the staff and the work that I was able to do with the scientists who attended the camp. As an intern, I was constantly helping out the teachers as well as the kids in their different science experiments. I love that the mission of the science center is to include science through doing, because that is what the program is all about. Each day, the campers were learning about science through performing different experiments and really having fun by their last day. I really enjoy being able to create these different relationships with the kids as well as remember some of them from the year before. It is a very rewarding experience for me and one that I will cherish long-term.
What I wish was different
I enjoyed working this summer better than last summer since I was more familliar with the processes and the job itself.
Advice
From this experience, I would like to share to branch out of your comfort zone. I always rejected the idea of being a teacher, but through LMU's Noyce Internship Program in the Biology department, I was able to get out of my comfort zone and work in a larger camp setting with a lot of kids. I really enjoyed working at the job and I would have never known about it if it wasn't for LMU.
