I loved the people I worked with. Everyone was so nice and supportive, when one person had a busy section, everyone else would help out. It was such an amazing environment to work in.

Advice

Take a serving job at some point in your life. It teaches you so much. You learn to work under pressure, multitask, how to work well with others, and handle guests.

The flexibility of scheduling and the customer service experience. Some customers were so nice and some were definitely a learning experience.

I had more time training before being thrown into it.

Don’t be overwhelmed when learning try to take everything step by step!

Loved my coworkers there. Made my time there go by a lot smoother even when I did not want to go thanks to their amazing company.

What I wish was different

I wish we actually had breaks. I thought it was illegal to not give workers a 15 or 30 minute break?

Advice

It’s good money depending on the location. If you can work in a fast I’ve environment and have great customer service skills and can multitask, this is the job for you. Requires a lot of quick thinking and communication skills.

What I liked

I loved the experience of working on a personal level with customers. I enjoyed the smell of food and the appearance of the food. I also enjoyed my co-workers as they supported me and also gave me a sense of competition which made me work even harder.

What I wish was different

I wish that I did not have to work fewer hours (although I had two other jobs at that time).

Advice

If you are a new employee in a restaurant setting, please remember that food is food and that the way you want your food to be handled, made, and distributed is the same for others (which should be properly). In any business you are in, customer service is the key to the success of the business as well as to your own advantage.

I wish I was able to move up to be a server.

Advice

Working in a restaurant was a great experience for me! I think the best thing I learned was to handle stressful situations with the on coming dinner rush.

What I liked

I liked working with different people and learning how to communicate effectively to help get things done. I liked learning how to deal with customers and how to please them.

What I wish was different

I wish that, when we were super busy, we had more than one manager on the floor to help the kitchen and the workers in the front of the house.

Advice

First impressions are important. Your initial greeting to a stranger helps them determine what they think of you. It is difficult, but not impossible, to change their minds
