Cafe Rio

Dishwasher

October 2020 - September 2021 • Pocatello, ID

What I liked

It was fun for awhile, until they did renovations and still had us work. They took out all the insulation and heating in the dishpit during the winter months, and didn't care to ask how the dishwashers were holding up. But it was fun for awhile

What I wish was different

Management needs to actually do stuff to fix the problems there were. They also shouldn't have been open during the remodel, as there was no insulation in the dish pit, and a ceiling tile fell on one of the cashiers head, and they didn't do anything.

Advice

Prepare yourself for some fun, but also be prepared to get taken advantage of.

Prep cook

November 2017 - July 2018 • Cedar City, UT

What I liked

The managers were on your side, and would help you as best they could, but I think most of them are gone now.

What I wish was different

It was disorganized. corporate was not helpful, only delivered bad news. It was always short staffed. A workplace culture of unreliability was a big problem. The work load was unevenly distributed.

Advice

It’s a fine job, not great for long term.

What I liked

What I wish was different

I wish this job would have been more flexible when it came to school hours. I felt like as soon as my classes ended I had to be at work. I learned a lot of new skills but barely had the time for my academic life.
