COVID conditions made some things slightly difficult, had to be flexible

Advice

I think experiences like these reveal what work place positions are actually like outside of college. I think many students do well in college but cant adjust to hard work in a normal employee environment, and thats why internships are so helpful, they show what the field you have chosen is actually like.

Loved the people there. They were so willing to answer my questions and push my limits on how I knew to communicate with guests.

I wish I was payed.

What I liked

Exposure to all kinds of plants, from tropicals in the conservatory to desert plants in the outdoor landscape. Also got to practice lots of IPM in the conservatory.

Advice

Consider potential subjects for your project early so you can have adequate time for research.

What I liked

I loved getting to work in environmental education with people who were experts in their specific invertebrate fields. I gained a lot of unique experiences working with the Buttterfly Pavilion that I would not have received if I worked anywhere else.
