What I liked

I was able to work directly with the CEOs of top firms in the United States and Latin America. The team is extremely kind and fun to work with even remotely.

What I wish was different

I would have liked to be in person.

Advice

Don’t be afraid to ask and seek out the things you are interested in from the get go. The team is flexible and they have a large number of projects so if you express your interests it’s likely you’ll find a project that fits!

What I liked

I am so grateful for having the chance to practice my Spanish speaking over the phone and writing over email. I now feel much more comfortable operating in Spanish within a professional context. BusinessHub gives their interns real responsibility and will rely on you to create thorough reports and help during trade missions. I loved the people and made great friends there with other interns. Being a part of trade missions was very interesting and I feel it was important to be able to observe how business is done in South America.

What I wish was different

I wish there was a bit more spanish speaking in the office, but with interns from England, The Netherlands, Spain, and the United States together combined with management who spoke fluent English, English was the fastest mode of communication. That being said plenty of research is done in Spanish, along with phone calls, meetings, and casual conversation in the office between non-interns/native Chileans. On a similar note, the job involves a lot of emailing and telemarketing, so if you are not prepared for the challenge of improving your Spanish, do not apply to this opportunity.

Advice

I interned here for 10 weeks and I feel that that was the appropriate amount of time. If you are from the EU and have internship requirements of 5 months, you may begin to get bored, but the other people you work with are super cool, friendly, helpful, etc.

What I liked

Even as an intern, I was entrusted with a similar amount of responsibility as the full-time staff. I needed the self-motivation and independence to finalize my reports, which were sent to my clients, by the deadline. I liked the variety of projects available; each one of my projects involved a different kind of product and market.
