I was able to apply both of my majors to be a part of relationship building between public and private sector which I hope to be able to do in the future.
What I wish was different
It was a remote and virtual internship, I would have loved to be in person.
Advice
Apply to places outside of your region, it can be harder, but it's entirely worth it.

What I liked
The office is small, meaning you have the chance to be directly involved in projects and collaborate with senior management. The work was fast-paced and always changing, so I was never bored. My colleagues were great and my boss, Jeff Donald, was fantastic. I was treated like an actual member of staff, which was refreshing compared to mundane intern tasks. The events were always interesting and I got to meet incredible executives in both the public and private sector.
What I wish was different
It took me a bit to get used to the environment, as it relies on you to be a self-starter. I had to make sure I was asking questions and following up because everyone is going in different directions. It could feel a little overwhelming if you're not comfortable speaking up.
Advice
Take initiative! If you put in the work and continually ask how else you can help, you will thrive. Don't be afraid to suggest new ideas because they will actually consider them. Be detail-oriented - it will take you far.
