This was an excellent opportunity to learn what it's like to work in a professional office setting. The position helped me develop my organization and attention to detail. I got to learn about bookkeeping and administration work in a large organization.

What I wish was different

Due to coronavirus, I was often one of the only people in our office. I did not want to telework. Because of this, I frequently ran out of work and struggled to find ways to help out.

Getting this opportunity was a lot of work. I attended workshops that taught me how to tailor my resume to government postings and submitted many applications and cover letters. It took a long time to get an offer, but I’m glad I waited because the experience and flexibility has been incredible.

I am currently the only intern in the Engineering Department, but I wish there were others so we could work together on assignments
